The trip to Small Town for my brother’s wedding is going to be a quick and dirty one. I bought bus tickets and reserved a rental car. I was telling The Man of my plans and realized that maybe I should have opted for a different return trip.
7:00pm Greyhound leaves Atlanta. I knit until it gets too dark, or I get bored. Sleep for the rest of the ride.
4:15am Arrive at bus station that is as close to Small Town as I can get. Car rental place doesn’t open until 9:00am so I sleep, knit, eat, something for 5 hours.
9:00am Get rental car and drive one hour to Small Town. Spend time with family and goof off.
6:30pm Attend wedding.
12:15am Bus leaves for home, sleep the whole way.
9:30am Arrive in Atlanta.
It sounded good at the time: Late bus to there, sleep on bus, wedding, late bus home, sleep on bus, can pack light, hardly any driving for me, hooray. It still sounds good, however the bus doesn’t exactly stop in the best part of town. The rental car agency is only around the block but it’s going to be night time when I return the car. Night time is when all the scary people come out. They hide in the shadows, waiting for prey. Like me. Eeep! In light (har, light, get it) of this, I’m going to head back to the bus station as soon as the wedding is over, which should be by 7:00pm. That puts me back to the bus station by 8:00pm, when it won’t be as scary. Surely the scary people won’t come out until after 9:00. Right? Even though there’s a full moon this weekend. Right? I’m going to pack some double points. Metal ones.

We just booked a trip this week to David’s hometown over New Year. I decided I couldn’t stand the 16 hour drive this time, so we booked our flight. Our non-refundable flight. Now I’ve realised that means we’re stuck in his hometown for 5 days with no freakin’ car!!!

That’s a good idea to go back to the bus station early. Does the rental car place have courtesy rides to the bus station?
Have a fun time!
