We had the spring on our garage door go sailing off one day - luckily, no one was inside the garage and neither one of our cars was either! That sucker left a hole in the wall! But since we're lazy and lame, we haven't fixed it. We don't park in the garage (why waste the storage space??), so it's not too big a deal for us. Our heat pump has been flaky too. Luckily, we haven't needed it much, since we keep the house fairly cool anyway. It's 62 in here as I type this. Yes, I'm wrapped up in a coverlet. We had something similar happen with our garage door opener a few years ago. But since we’re lazy and lame, we haven’t fixed it. It's happened to me like that before, too. We move in and everything goes wrong. We get ready to move out and the same thing happens. I'm glad you had such a nice time with your family!
