Blinded by charm

April 29th, 2007 by Restless Knitter

I think it’s only fair to warn you that the following pictures may cause blindness. You may want to get your sunglasses before going any further.

I have a thing for anklets. I love ‘em. I hardly ever show my legs (blinding glare, egads!) so it doesn’t make much sense to wear one. I don’t know if it’s age or just plain defiance, but this year I might just toss my insecurities aside and bare the ol’ legs. If I’m going to bare the legs, then I can wear an anklet.

I found a pattern online (check out her Argosy patterns too) for a knitted one with charms so I set out to find charms and make one. I knit the first one the same as the pattern with the exception of using different yarn, which came out too long. (The tie takes up part of the knitted part and is too bulky. I’m afraid that it will come undone too easily.)

The next one, I crocheted with double stranded crochet cotton. Go ahead, call me a traitor. This one fits a bit better.

A ball of yarn with knitting needles, I (heart)2knit with a little sheep (I think that’s supposed to be a sheep) below it, and a cat with a ball of yarn.

Here are all of them that I attached. Moon with stars, a dragonfly (that I put on backwards, oops), and a dog on the other end. I didn’t particularly like this dog but I think it’s only fair the dog is represented too, don’t you?

I’m not sure which one I like better. I’m also afraid they’ll come untied and I’ll lose them so I’d like to get a real anklet and see what that looks like too. What do you all think? Knitted? Crocheted? Real one? None?

I’m going to SAFF this year! I wanted to go last fall but the timing just wasn’t right. I’m going to keep an eye on the weaving classes being offered and may sign up for one of those. Other than that, I’m going for the people and the shopping.

ZOMG! I love anklets too, but also never wear them unless we’re at the beach. I like the look of both styles, but like the blue color better.

Yay SAFF! I had a good time last year, and am looking forward to going this year, barring anything unforseen.

I think it’s pretty funny that you put the I(heart)2knit charm on the crocheted anklet. :) I agree with Janice - I like the color of the blue one. I think I like the width of it, too. Congrats on going to SAFF!

Love the blue anklet! I wear a gold one sometimes, but the metal crunches into my skin, so I’m thinking this is just the thing. Good luck with the move…

I’m planning on going to SAFF this year as well.. I’m excited! I love anklets.. and I think they are all cool.

I’m so excited you’re going! We’re going to be party buddies! Hee hee!

    I’m such a child.

The anklets are beautiful. I should make up a few of those for my nieces. Good stocking stuffers.

Too bad your blue anklet turned out too big even though it looks cute. I have ankles that shouldn’t see the light of day but I do it any way. Actually I’m like that all over but I try not to think about it.

First of all, where did you get the I Heart To Knit charms? I love them!

Second, if I go (and I really REALLY wanna) I’ll be flying into ATL a day early to spend a little time on the farm.

Keep your fingers crossed. And ring me when you get to CA. It would SO suck if we both have to go to NC just to see each other again when we’ll both be living in the same state soon. Also, the June ASK gathering will be pretty close to you, relatively speaking. Hope you’re here by then!

Still debating whether i’m going to SAFF.

Please, where did you find those charms?
