Restless Knitter

After 3 months of being MIA, I’m not sure where to start. It’s like there has been a lot going on, but not really anything. Let’s start with the knitting.

There hasn’t been much. I fiddled around with different stitch patterns for a scarf for D2, ripping out several after getting several inches in. I finally settled on one and have worked on it when the mood struck. It’s still not done, she can wear it next year. Surely I’ll have it done by then, right? I’ll get a pic of it when it’s done, or when the mood strikes, whichever comes first.

The latest issue of Creative Knitting had a maryjane baby bootie in it that was just so cute I had to make one.

I just used scrap stuff I had laying around, the white being some Red Heart Soft and the red being some Wool-Ease. No one is going to get it (I just wanted to make it for the hell of it) so I didn’t care what I used and I didn’t try to find a button to put on the strap. I’ll say this: if I’d had to make this on one straight needle I think I would have broken a wrist or some fingers. This definitely calls for dpns or a circ for magic loop type knitting.

So now comes the crap that everyone is sick of, including myself. 2007 sucked for me. I knew when 2008 came, things would change. I thought they would change for the better. Imagine what went through my mind when we found out in January that The Man will most likely be jobless (thus the reason for no blogging, who wants to hear whining all the time?) when the 3rd quarter of this year arrives. Company buyouts and all that jazz. So while it sounds like bad news, maybe it will end up being for the better. The Man is getting a few job leads, and most of them lead to San Francisco. So maybe we had to come to LA to get to SF? I’d rather be back on the east coast but if SF is where we end up, it’s where we end up. Maybe it’s just another step on the way back to the east coast. If I do start keeping up the blog again, I’ll try to keep the whining to a minimum but I’m sure it’s going to pop up once in awhile. If it gets too out of control, I’ll take another break from the blog.
