In which the littlest decision is driving me nuts

May 18th, 2006 by Restless Knitter

Things are a little out of kilter here at the house of RK. One big thing, which unfortunately I can’t go into, is weighing heavily on us. Making big decisions is never easy and this was one we were both kind of struggling with. I’m hoping all the decision making can be over with tomorrow.

Daughter went to the doctor and she’s definitely preggers. They think she’s 4-5 weeks. She had an ultrasound but because it’s so early, there wasn’t much to see. Except, there were these two little dark spots. And my grandmother (not the evil one) was a twin. But, it’s too early to say there’s actually two in there.

I did get Poinsettia and I swatched with Zephyr. I don’t think it’s going to work. The way I see it, I have 3 options

1) I can double the purple Zephyr I have since I have enough of it to do that

2) I can use smaller needles with the pink and have a small lap shawl

3) I can buy yarn

Decisions decisions

When hubby left for work this morning, the spring on the garage door decided it would like to be free from it’s job. We’re not talking a little spring, we’re talking a heavy duty spring that stretches 4 feet, or something like that. In it’s attempt to escape, it used the hood of my car as a landing spot. There’s a huge coil mark of missing paint, along with 3 dings. Damn spring. I got an estimate and the damage is $50 over our deductible. So, do I go 4 days without a car and pay the whole thing out of pocket? Or do I let insurance cover it, get a rental car out of the deal, and watch my insurance rates go up? Another freaking decision.

Holy cow, I’m glad you weren’t around when that spring decided to let go!

Hmm, if you need something heavier than Zephyr… You could make it in Douceur et Soie or Kid Silk Haze and go up a needle size. Or maybe an undyed sock yarn. There’s an Ebay seller (pfinch) that I bought some Kona fingering weight sock yarn from. It’s superwash, though, so maybe you don’t want that.

I’ve been trying to work my way down to finer yarns. Hey, if you don’t mind working in cotton, you can get a BIG ball of mercerized cotton at JoAnn or Hobby Lobby, and if you use a 40% off coupon, you can get it for almost nothing! (Well, under $10 for 2700+ yards.)

    Just thinking out loud…
