No end in sight

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

This is probably a first. There is no end in sight, not a single solitary one. All of them have been woven in. Though looking at the pictures, the buttons don’t look completely straight. Would you have noticed if I hadn’t said anything? I’m very critical of my own stuff.

Pattern: Seeds & Vines Top-Down Cardigan from Cozy Knits for Cuddly Babies
Yarn: Wool-Ease
Needles: US 7
Start Date: June 8
Finish Date: June 11

There’s a ritual I go through every week. On Thursday, I regret not driving over to the Stitching for Sanity group. Friday, Saturday, all the way through Tuesday, I vow to go to the next one. On Wednesday, I plan all day on going. I get dressed an hour or so before I need to leave. An hour goes by, and the lazies strike and I don’t go. Then the cycle starts all over again, me regretting not going and vowing to go to the next one. I really like the people there even though I don’t say much. I just don’t like the driving part. So I asked on one of the lists if anyone in my general area would be interested in getting a group going and it looks like we’re going to have our first get together on Monday. And it’s only 12 miles! Yay!

I’ve been having trouble trying to decide what to start next. I have all these things I want to knit but then I look at each one and wonder if I’ll really ever wear it. I tried starting 2 different summer tops and before I got to the 15th row on either of them, they no longer appealed to me. I still have Poinsettia to work on but I want to be working on something else too. Something I can wear. Baby items are fun, and they’re quick as can be, but some of them I can’t work on until we know if the Peanut is a boy or girl. I went ahead and started one from the Patons book, and wouldn’t you know, there’s an error. They tell you to do the first 16 rows that has a design in it, then it says to start the raglan shaping. Now I know babies are small, but I think starting the armhole 2 inches from the bottom is a little much. No schematics so I can’t go by that, but I’ve looked at the other patterns and I’ll take the length from one of those.

Ever had someone stare at you in a public place? At first you look away. You glance back and not only is the original person staring at you, but she now has her friends joining in. I really hate confrontation but it was kind of pissing me off, so I gave a hard stare back. They started giggling and apologizing for staring, “it’s just that you look like someone we know.” Then “You look like Debra Winger.” Me thinks a couple someones had a little too much to drink.

Better late than never

I had this boring post all written up about what a goober I am and how I missed everyone at WWKIP at the park but while writing it, I decided to go back. I was late but I enjoyed the time that I was there. I got to meet a few people, some that I’ve “known” for years, some that I’ve only recently come across their blogs. Y’know, not a single one of them bit me. Husband asks me why it makes me so nervous to go to things like that and I just can’t give him a good answer, other than “they might bite”. And I got a very tasty recipe out of the deal.
I started another baby sweater. It calls for Cascade 200, which I do have in the stash but the only color I have enough of is black so that was out. I had enough Wool-Ease and I thought it was dark enough that a girl or boy could wear it. Now I’m not so sure, but there’s no turning back now. This is the Seeds & Vines Cardigan from the Cozy Knits for Cuddly Babies book.

That color is so hard to get a true picture of. One is too pink, the other is too dark.

I don’t do the meme’s that float around, but I found this at Peace & Sereknitty and thought I was up for the challenge.
5 things I like about myself.
1. I like the color of my eyes
2. I’m a positive thinker. (Hard to believe with all the bitching that I do :) )
3. I have a nice voice
4. When I’m working, I’m good at what I do
5. I try to think logically for the most part. Sometimes I have a brain fart but who doesn’t once in awhile.

That was harder than I thought it would be. I’m not into the tagging thing but if you feel so inclined, “toot your own horn”. It’s good to feel good about yourself.

BSJ off the needles

The Baby Surprise is off the needles. Here it is, posing on our newly stained deck.

I still need to weave in a few ends, buy some buttons, and seam it so it’s not totally finished.
Forecast for WWKIP day? Take a lookie

Real Feel 96! Uh, it’s gonna be hot :(

Oh, and La got a little surprise of her own.

First of all, I hate bobbles/popcorns/nipples/whatever you want to call them. Hate hate hate them. I also hate seaming. Well, hate is too strong for seaming, I just dislike it. So why did I choose a pattern that involves bobbles AND seaming? I’d like to think it was to expand my horizons, to have a challenge. But no, it’s really because I wasn’t paying enough attention. Poinsettia, she requires attention. Like when you are getting down to the final stretch, and you see all those rows of just plain knitting and you get excited that you are getting a little break before the next slew of bobbles. You can listen to your husband talk or the boob tube and not concentrate for at least a few rows. It’s bliss. Then you do the 2nd square and those purl rows seem unfamiliar. And you realize you didn’t pay enough attention to Poinsettia and she wasn’t very happy about it. She laughs when you realize you have some garter where some stockinette should be. Now you have to do those GD bobbles again.

Right

Wrong

Waaahh. But dammit, she will not defeat me. Yet.
