It went from Too Damn Hot to Too Freaking Cold in the blink of an eye. A couple of nights ago, it was down to the upper 30’s. Hmm, cold. Need felted slippers. I would have sworn that I bought the Felted Clogs pattern but I can’t find it anywhere. Since I’m impatient, I used this pattern instead.

I bought (again?) the Felted Clog pattern at the lys, so I’m sure the original will turn up now. While surfing for felted footies, I came across these felted baby slippers. Awww. The lys didn’t have that pattern so I may have to order it.

I’ve read in quite a few places that when you felt, you aren’t supposed to let the object go through the spin cycle because it will cause permanent lines. I have felted several things and I’ve let them go through the spin every single time. Not once have I had anything come out with lines spun into it. I think it’s a myth. No lines here. (Since they were still wet, I stuck my foot in a plastic bag before putting them on.)

I feel like there’s not enough time in the day to do everything I want to do. I have blogs I need to catch up on, books from the library that I want to read, socks to finish (there has been progess),

shawls to start, wallpaper to get off the bedroom walls just the top border to go, and work. Okay, the work isn’t something I want to do, especially since it’s interfering with all the things I want to do. I also need to declutter, which I’ve started but so far I’ve only succeeded in making more of a mess than making things look better. Add to that, I need to clean up around here. There’s little bits of wallpaper all around the house because it sticks to my socks and I (and the pets) end up tracking it everywhere. I always said that if I lived alone and only had myself to clean up after, my house would be so much cleaner. Being as The Man is only home every other weekend now, it looks like I was wrong.

Being as I’m actually getting around to posting, here’s a pic of the baby bib that I did actually finish.

It’s not perfect. The edge tends to roll and while blocking may fix that, I don’t see anyone ironing bibs after each wash so I’m not doing it either. As far as the intarsia goes, it’s not too bad. Not the greatest and certainlly wouldn’t win any awards, but it’s not totally terrible either.

Still going by the motto that it doesn’t count if it’s small, I again started something new.

You know I’ve really got to be avoiding something if I start a sock because, as I mentioned before, I don’t get into socks like some of you do. (I swear, some of you can whip ‘em out faster than I can walk around the block!) Any guesses as to what I’m avoiding? Yes, it’s the stole. I am not enjoying the edging at all. I’ve been forcing myself to do a couple of rows here and there and it’s just irritating me to no end. If I’m not enjoying it, then why do it? I have two choices: 1) put it away for a long while, risking that it will become a permanent ufo, or 2) end it with a few rows of garter.

The bathroom is done! Well, the patching/sanding/priming/painting are done. Not really a color I’d choose if we were staying. I’d like to see how a creamy coffee color would look. Maybe in the next house.

That dark hole in the top right is where I haven’t put the light fixture back in yet. Because it’s gold. The faucets and towel bars were all shiny silver, and the hardware on the cabinet doors are gold with off white ceramic type stuff. Since there’s a skylight in there and we don’t use that room anyway, there’s no rush to get any of that stuff put on. When the time comes, I’ll get things that actually go together.

Next up is a spare bedroom that has a peachy orange wallpaper.  Or, I might just finish a pair of socks after all.

The trip to Small Town for my brother’s wedding is going to be a quick and dirty one. I bought bus tickets and reserved a rental car. I was telling The Man of my plans and realized that maybe I should have opted for a different return trip.

7:00pm Greyhound leaves Atlanta. I knit until it gets too dark, or I get bored. Sleep for the rest of the ride.

4:15am Arrive at bus station that is as close to Small Town as I can get. Car rental place doesn’t open until 9:00am so I sleep, knit, eat, something for 5 hours.

9:00am Get rental car and drive one hour to Small Town. Spend time with family and goof off.

6:30pm Attend wedding.

12:15am Bus leaves for home, sleep the whole way.

9:30am Arrive in Atlanta.

It sounded good at the time: Late bus to there, sleep on bus, wedding, late bus home, sleep on bus, can pack light, hardly any driving for me, hooray. It still sounds good, however the bus doesn’t exactly stop in the best part of town. The rental car agency is only around the block but it’s going to be night time when I return the car. Night time is when all the scary people come out. They hide in the shadows, waiting for prey. Like me. Eeep! In light (har, light, get it) of this, I’m going to head back to the bus station as soon as the wedding is over, which should be by 7:00pm. That puts me back to the bus station by 8:00pm, when it won’t be as scary. Surely the scary people won’t come out until after 9:00. Right? Even though there’s a full moon this weekend. Right? I’m going to pack some double points. Metal ones.

The End Is Near

Slowly but surely (clicky for bigger, as always.)

I’ve started the border (top left needle). I’m soooo tempted to just stick a couple of rows of garter on the ends and call it done. But I won’t.

Oh, and see that little bit of white on the floor in the top middle-left? Not the very top, that’s a glare. Just to the right and below of that. That’s where I was coming down the stairs with different things, including a paint brush that had primer on it. It jumped out of the pile of crap I was carrying and smacked the floor. Nice. Something else to clean up.

Speaking of the bathroom, she’s all primed. See?

See all the dust covering the handles and faucet in the tub? Sure you do. That white hose coming down from the shower head is a sprayer used for giving the dog a bath. When I was taking pictures this morning, I noticed a spot that could probably use a little sanding. Will the anal me sand it, or will the sick-of-this-project me paint over it and hope no one notices?

I swore I wouldn’t start anything else until the stole was done. Maybe that was a little fib. I had no intentions of starting another project. I’ve told myself since this is so small, it doesn’t count.

This is a baby bib, or will be. It has a motif. It looks like crap. It looks even worse when the flash isn’t used.

I suck at intarsia. I’ve only played around with intarsia before, never really trying to actually do it, if that makes any sense. Maybe a better way of saying it is I’ve tried to do it but never actually completed a motif because I realized I’m not good at it. Still, the end is near on this too so I will finish it, then throw it in with the next load of laundry and see if it doesn’t look better.
