Sept 26

Well fudge. I was proud of the scarf I was making. It was original, no one else would have one. Last night I was searching for shawl patterns and came across two items using the same stitch pattern. One was a sock, one was a scarf/shrug combo. Okay, so they aren’t the same scarf but it still busted my bubble a little. And the damn thing is curling inward even after I blocked it. I was hoping the little bit of garter stitch would keep it from doing that but nope. The only stitch pattern anyone is going to see are the stripes on the back. Poo!

Yarn: Cascade 220 (black) and SWTC Karaoke (blue/purple)
Needle: US 8 Addi circ
Size: 110″/280cm long, 5″/12.5cm wide, after wet blocking
Start: Sept 23, 2007
Finish: Sept 25, 2007

How was your weekend? Mine was awesome! I got out of the house and met up with these people.

Top row: Wendy, Michelle, Silvia
Bottom row:Andria, Carolyn, La, me
(Their pictures are better than mine, go take a look on their blogs)

First we stopped in Alamitos Bay Yarn Company where I was tempted by lace yarn. I picked up one color, put it back, picked up another, put it back, and left without buying anything. I want more yarn but I don’t need more yarn. After shopping, we headed next door where La forced me to drink a strawberry daquiri. It was good for me to get out and about. I had a great time, ladies!

Since The Man drove, I was able to take a picture of one of the hills on the way home.

Can you see the heart? On the other side of the hill is a smiley face, which I wasn’t able to capture.

Being as I want to use up yarn before I buy more, I did some searching on ravelry (I’m RestlessKnitter) for some ideas. I didn’t find anything that really grabbed me and turned to the eleventy million stitch dictionaries I have. I didn’t find anything I wanted to do with the lace weight but I did find something that would kill two birds with one stone. The daughter gets one of the scarves she wants, I get to do something fun/not boring, and I bust some stash.

Um yeah, you’ll be able to see more detail when it comes off the needles.

Guess who got their Ravelry invite!

Up in a puff of smoke

I got up to the bust of Cherie Amour and, shocker, it was too big. My gauge swatch told a fib. It also might have been under a little stress so I won’t be too mad at it. I plan to try again later but best laid plans and all that, don’t be holding your breath.

Younger daughter asked for a couple of scarves. She wants them thick and looong. I could knit a million scarves until someone asks for one, then I can’t find a pattern that I think would work. She wants squishy, I want fun and lace and cables and color. I settled for the multi-directional scarf* in Patons SWS*. It’s too bad that 2 skeins does not make a long scarf. I’ll finish it anyway and find something else for her. For someone that has so much yarn in the stash, I’m having a terrible time finding something she’d like. She may get a long pink or lavender or blue or variegated lace scarf whether she likes it or not. Who wants to place bets that she’ll get a few scarves from Target? :)

I still haven’t bought my plane tickets for SAFF. Part of the reason is that I still haven’t decided if I want to stop in Atlanta first. Tickets to Atlanta are cheaper but then there are additional hotel and rental car fees. If I fly straight to SAFF, it costs a little more but I don’t have to do any driving and I can get right to the hotel. If I haven’t made up my mind by Saturday, it’s going to be coin flipping time.

*It’s too late at night to link. If you really haven’t heard of these or want to know about them, Google is your friend.
