Two shawl starts, one frog

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

As I said, over the weekend I started two shawls. On Friday evening, I started the Rose Trellis Shawl with some Cherry Tree Hill Merino Lace that I’d bought last fall.

I love variegated yarns and even though it’s hard to find patterns that work well with them, I just keep wanting to buy more and more. If I had already used the CTH in the stash, I would have been comfortable buying the yarn that I wanted a couple of weekends ago. Once this is done, I can buy more!

On Sunday, I started the Secret of Chrysopolis with KnitPicks Alpaca Cloud.

Unfortunately, this is going to be ripped. From what little I can see, this is going to be a beautiful shawl but Alpaca Cloud isn’t the yarn for it, at least not for me. I’ve gone down to a US2 and it still looks too airy. I do want to make this someday but it will have to wait until I have a more appropriate yarn.

I’ve been saying that one of these days, I want to try illusion knitting. I need to find something that my 20 year old daughter will like since I plan to incorporate it into one of her scarves. Suggestions are welcome.

My Weekend
